Pelican Waters QLD by Stilus Design

Located in sunny Queensland along the canal in Pelican Waters, the old timber decking was not standing up to the harsh Queensland conditions so the owners decided on a low-maintenance decking option.

The Millboard Golden Oak decking transformed the large outdoor entertaining and pool area into the perfect spot to sit back and relax while enjoying the truly spectacular water views.

The decking looks different depending on the lighting conditions and these photos provide a great example of this.

From full sun to afternoon shade, the light blonde colouring changes from its golden name, to more of a light sandy hue as the sun goes down.

Millboard is perfect for coastal settings as the boards are unaffected by moisture and will never rot or warp, or host mould or algae growth. The boards also never need to be oiled or sealed and are virtually maintenance-free!

They have the highest anti-slip rating available in Australia (P5), are UV stable meaning minimal fade over time and the boards are comparable to timber in regards to heat retention. Perfect for decking next to the pool.

Millboard composite decking is hand-made in the United Kingdom & styled from real oak timbers, creating an incredibly realistic look that captures the natural beauty of wood. But unlike traditional timber – which needs regular ongoing maintenance like oiling & sanding to try and stave off rotting, mould, stains, warping, cupping, fading, splinters & a host of other undesirable effects – Millboard is completely different!

This is because unlike traditional timber, or even conventional composite decking WPC (which typically contains half-timber fibre/flours/rice husks & half plastic) – Millboard contains no timber, nor any plastic.

Millboard composite decking is made from a revolutionary Polyurethane resin, reinforced with mineral fibres plus a unique Lastane® coating. So what is Polyurethane then? It’s a type of elastomer, which is a polymer about halfway between a plastic and a rubber. It maintains the rigidity & longevity of plastic, with the suppleness of rubber. This means Millboard feels much more natural underfoot, while still offering incredible durability.
