The Queensland government launched the Satellite Hospital Programme to alleviate pressure on acute care hospitals in South-East Queensland by offering services like minor injury care, medical day, oral health, and First Nations services. Extensive stakeholder consultations ensured compliance with health guidelines during planning. Fulton Trotter Architects, in collaboration with Conrad Gargett, GHD Woodhead, and Hutchinson Builders, focused on creating accessible community healthcare spaces that prioritise wayfinding and user well-being. The design incorporates external materials brought inside, corridors with landscape views, and centrally located entries in an H-shaped layout. The seven sites, located in diverse settings, posed the challenge of achieving design consistency while addressing unique site conditions.
