Takapuna House

Respond Architects are proud to present Takapuna House, a stunning renovation that seamlessly combines aesthetic appeal with functional design. Situated in a prime beachside location in Takapuna, this project transformed an existing property into a stylish, privacy-conscious retreat perfect for entertaining friends and enjoying harbour views. The design incorporates a striking decorative extrusion that adds a unique visual feature from the outside, while remaining subtle from within, creating a harmonious balance between form and function.  Key to the renovation was addressing the homeowner’s desire for improved privacy, natural light, and versatile living spaces. The master bedroom was repositioned to an upstairs lounge and entertainment area, with a fully enclosed deck providing privacy and weather protection, enhanced by adjustable louvres. The downstairs space was opened up with a new skylight and a central stairwell, flooding the area with natural light and creating a spacious, multi-use lounge. A thoughtfully designed window overlooking the pool highlights the property’s connection to its stunning surroundings, all achieved with careful planning and positive engagement with local council regulations.  At Respond Architects, we pride ourselves on understanding our clients’ lifestyles and delivering tailored solutions that elevate their living experience. By blending high-quality materials, innovative design features, and expert collaboration with engineers and councils, Takapuna House exemplifies our commitment to delivering homes that are both visually impressive and highly functional. This project not only enhances the property's visual appeal but also optimises its layout, flow, and privacy—creating a truly bespoke coastal sanctuary.
