Christchurch’s Convention Centre is also known as Te Pae, a gathering place. With a 1,400-seat auditorium and 24 meeting rooms, Diadem’s role was to make sure those who gathered could navigate the centre with ease.

Diadem was engaged as wayfinding and signage design consultants, shaping the brand to complement the architecture by Woods Bagot, working from strategy to design development and documentation.

The vision of Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is to be a gathering place for the 21st century – where the world can come together to share, learn, be hosted and entertained.

Located in a prime position on the banks of the Avon River in the central city, this is set to be one of New Zealand’s premier venues for conventions, conferences, congress, exhibitions, trade shows, meetings and events.

Diadem was tasked with designing a new site-wide wayfinding strategy for the centre.

Two critical criteria underpin Diadem’s response: simplicity and flexibility. The brief was to ensure maximum visibility and functionality across the centre’s 28,000m2 of spaces.

The building’s architecture by Woods Bagot reflects the transition of Christchurch’s gridded CBD to the winding Avon River. Diadem’s approach to the signage suite works in harmony with this design philosophy, from the façade to the interior spaces.

Over the last two decades, we have helped people communicate, navigate and engage with branded spaces around the world.

Founded in 2000, we’ve grown from a single consultancy to a practice with six offices, and a team known for industry-leading expertise. Over that time, it’s been our privilege to deliver strategic signage and wayfinding for clients in a wide range of industries.

Today, our briefs continue to be interesting, challenging and diverse. Our solutions continue to earn acclaim and deliver meaningful value.

As new markets and new service offerings emerge, we’re building on our experience as an advisor on place branding, sustainable design and digital solutions. We will continue to embrace new methods and changing technology to make a positive impact – for our clients, for their communities and for the environment.

At ArchiPro we recognise and acknowledge the existing, original and ancient connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the lands and waterways across the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We commit to working together to build a prosperous and inclusive Australia.
