A contemporary barn-style structure completed in 2024, featuring a blend of engineered steel and timber, Structural Insulated Panels for insulation, and polished concrete flooring, designed for versatility and modern rural elegance.

Sitting majestically in the landscape is this incredible structure.

Designed for both practicality and aesthetics. Built from a mix of engineered steel portals and conventional timber trusses that create these vast openings. The central barn roof structure uses Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) that form a warm roof as insulation.

Polished concrete flooring provides versatility for storage or workspace use, and thoughtfully positioned windows and doors create a spacious and sophisticated environment.

This is modern functionality paired with rustic elegance. The design captures the essence of modern rural architecture, complementing the natural beauty of the location while offering a practical and versatile space for various uses.

Professional Reviews

“We wanted a builder who would be predominately ‘on site’ and would take charge of the construction process, use initiative, but work closely with us, despite our home base being Dunedin. Finishing the complete job inside and out with outdoor shower area, terraces, lawns and garden areas was also important to us. Jason’s work site was always well organised, with health and safety paramount. It was obvious that the team had a knowledgeable, well-respected leader who supervised closely to ensure a meticulous standard was achieved. Workflow continued with little interruption with his excellent forward planning and by using sub-contractors in whom he had confidence. Jason Frater has become more than a superb builder who takes true pride in his work – he has become a good friend. Even though the house is finished, we are still able to enlist Jason’s services for the small projects that arise. We love our Little Kaiteriteri home and all our visitors can’t help but notice the attention to detail that is indicative of an excellent builder.”
