A charming cabin retreat in Marahau Valley featuring an open kitchen-dining area, luxurious stand-alone bath, and a beachy interior with recessed LED lighting, all complemented by vertical cedar cladding and an iron roof.

This particular project is designed as a lovely simple bach for the owners who have holidayed in the Marahau Valley area for many years.

A very simple space consisting of only three rooms.

The kitchen dining area has doors that open up on three sides to really bring the natural beauty of the surrounds inside.

The luxury stand-alone bath in the bedroom is the perfect spot to watch the river flow at the foot of the property.

Recessed LED strip lighting throughout gives off a lovely soft ambience and whitewashed plywood to the interior walls and ceiling feel very beachy.

The exterior is clad in vertical cedar with an iron roof.

Professional Reviews

1 / 5

“We wanted a builder who would be predominately ‘on site’ and would take charge of the construction process, use initiative, but work closely with us, despite our home base being Dunedin. Finishing the complete job inside and out with outdoor shower area, terraces, lawns and garden areas was also important to us. Jason’s work site was always well organised, with health and safety paramount. It was obvious that the team had a knowledgeable, well-respected leader who supervised closely to ensure a meticulous standard was achieved. Workflow continued with little interruption with his excellent forward planning and by using sub-contractors in whom he had confidence. Jason Frater has become more than a superb builder who takes true pride in his work – he has become a good friend. Even though the house is finished, we are still able to enlist Jason’s services for the small projects that arise. We love our Little Kaiteriteri home and all our visitors can’t help but notice the attention to detail that is indicative of an excellent builder.”
