The Libraries at The Hotel Britomart are a succession of elegant spaces crafted for intimate gatherings, private dinners, meetings and more.
Working closely with Cheshire Architects and Cooper & Company, Targetti New Zealand assisted with the full lighting design and supply of the specialist area within the Britomart Hotel, known as The Libraries. Consisting of three carefully thought out areas referred to as The Lounge, The Wine Library and the Chefs Library each with its own personality.
The Lounge features artworks by Ralph Hotere and Shane Cotton, and brick walls revealing layers of history, The Lounge allows guests the luxury of sinking into sumptuous banquettes or gathering around its beautiful bar.
The Wine Library features a loft-like Wine Library lined with high shelves filled with bottles, and lit by a chandelier of hand-crafted glass. Its central kauri table is the focus of tailored wine tastings or private dinners for up to 12 people.
The Chefs Library features a private dining room hosting up to eight guests for sublime meals by executive chef Tom Hishon (with exceptional wines to match). The adjacent kitchen allows easy conversation with the chefs as each unforgettable course is served.
The Targetti Forty Eight track system was used throughout. It was chosen due to the seamless aesthetic of the 48V track without the need for any track adapters. Supplied in DALI to allow every luminaire to be addressed individually, to maintain a perfect light intensity of every space throughout the Libraries. IBL Recessed Tube Projector was used in the spaces with a lower ceiling height. The relationship between both fittings were the perfect match due to their tiny proportions and focused visual comfort.
It was a pleasure to once again work alongside the Cheshire and Cooper & Company team, achieving a phenomenal result. Proven by the abundance of Interior awards received at the NZ Architecture Awards.
