The Midland Club banner

The former Midland Club building has historical and social value as an example of the gentlemen clubs that flourished in Christchurch in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  It is one of Christchurch city’s few remaining multi storey brick buildings following the 2011 Canterbury earthquakes.

The building has been fully restored and preserved for future generations to use and enjoy. The saving of this building provides a richness to the river frontage, and inspires others to press forward as the city is being rebuilt.

The project received a highly commended award at the Canterbury Heritage Awards 2018.
