A contemporary Mediterranean dining experience in the heart of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne. Build by Directitude, VIC.
At the Observatory, the vision was to create a vibrant dining destination that celebrates both the beauty of its setting within the Royal Botanic Gardens and the joy of shared, elevated dining experiences. The food offering was designed to be approachable yet refined, catering to both locals and visitors, and centred around a sense of theatre and quality. Live cooking elements were integrated to deliver exceptional flavour while bringing energy and authenticity into the dining room.
The Marana oven became a focal point of both the design and menu strategy. Functionally and visually striking, it anchors the kitchen with a presence that communicates craftsmanship and quality to guests. From a menu perspective, it supports a dedicated pizza offering that integrates seamlessly with a broader Mediterranean-influenced concept. Its versatility allows pizzas to be delivered with the perfect balance of crispness, char, and texture, consistently and at scale, while adding theatre to the dining experience.
The oven’s performance has operationally delivered:
- Increased output without loss of quality, even during peak periods
- Consistent product standards, improving guest satisfaction and reducing variability.
- Staffing efficiencies through easy operation and reduced training time.
- Operational savings with lower wastage and fuel efficiency.
'The Marana oven’s performance has exceeded expectations, positively impacting business operations. Overall, it has been instrumental in streamlining our service while reinforcing the premium standards we want associated with The Observatory.
Our experience with Marana Australia’s customer service has been excellent. From the installation process through to ongoing support, the team has been responsive, professional, and proactive in ensuring we are set up for success. They provided comprehensive training and remain available whenever needed, which gives us confidence not only in the equipment itself but also in the partnership.'
