The brief for this family of five, which includes three teenage girls and their parents who love to entertain, was to create a cool and stylish kitchen design. A unique request was also to have a dedicated display area for their sentimental matchbox collection. The design needed to include a hardwearing benchtop, Gaggenau appliances, a wine fridge, large bins, and a generous sink. There was also a must for good extraction due to concerns about cooking smells.

Additionally, they wanted darker elements incorporated to provide solace in a space after working in the sun all day. They also required a solution to eliminate the original sliding doors and have air conditioning throughout the kitchen. They preferred integrated appliances for a clean and minimalist look.

Overall, the family desired a design that would cater to their unique needs and style, with the primary focus on creating a functional space that also reflected their personal taste.

DESIGN STATEMENT

As you enter this stunning kitchen, the feature wall of crown-cut walnut in a custom stain immediately draws your attention. This beautiful wall is complemented by the hidden FritsJurgens doors to the scullery and lounge, providing a sleek stylish solution that eliminated the client's dislike for the original sliding doors.

To create a dark and moody atmosphere the combination of walnut and 8mm blackened wax steel not only looks incredible together but adds warmth and depth to the space. The folded and angled blackened steel island back panels differ from the usual straight flat design. The island is thoughtfully designed as a comfortable seating area for four, making it perfect for entertaining guests.

The Negresco leathered granite stonework and splashback add a hard-wearing element to the design, while creating a stunning visual impact. The antique glass used to reflect the backing of the family match collection adds a personal touch to the space. Glass shelving with LED lighting illuminates the collection, creating a warm inviting atmosphere at night.

The Dornbracht Tara Ultra tap was purposely selected for its distinctive curves. Streamlined blackened steel end panels keep the verticals minimalistic and clean, while integrated aircon grills above the kitchen work to provide both air conditioning and ducting for the Schweigen extractor. The extractor was chosen for its large volume of air removal.

The Gaggenau Vario hobs, with buttons on the front edge of the top add a unique detailing to the design, while hidden LED lighting above the hob in the display area, and under the island seats subtly illuminates this warm and cosy space.

The 35 Litre Hideaway Concelo bin system with servo drive was selected for ease of use with dirty hands, whilst the large single 700mm sink caters to the family's needs and doubles as an ice bath when entertaining.

In conclusion, this kitchen offers a stunning combination of unique design elements that meet the client's needs and desires. From the beautiful walnut feature wall to the hard-wearing Negresco granite stonework and antique glass, every detail has been carefully considered to create an overall cohesive and striking design.
