Architectural lighting experts, Switch Lighting, have answered the demands of design professionals with a premium strip lighting product that outshines the competition.
Strip lighting has exploded in popularity over the last decade, with many modern homes now featuring at least one linear lighting application — from kitchen task lighting to architectural feature illumination. Aware of the need for a premium linear lighting solution designed to the high standards that architectural lighting demands, Switch Lighting has launched the new Ribbon Lighting range.
“Our design and architecture clients were seeking a strip lighting product that would not only meet performance expectations, but also integrate with the sophistication and design flexibility of the wider Switch Lighting range,” says Gerard Woods, Switch Lighting Co-Founder.
“Ribbon Lighting was brought to market to complete our offering as a solution that delivers exceptional light quality, versatility in application, and architectural-grade finishes. It upholds our commitment to lighting excellence, ensuring continuity across our entire portfolio.”

Designed for longevity and visual consistency, each strip has minimal diode visibility and uniform output. The collection also includes a neon ribbon option for outdoor and wet area applications.
Taking strip lighting to the next level
As a high-end approach to standard strip lighting products, the Ribbon Lighting range boasts several premium features.
“With a high CRI output, Ribbon Lighting accurately renders colour and material finishes for true-to-life illumination. The Tunable White option allows seamless adjustment from warm, inviting tones to crisp, cool light — ideal for shifting the mood or matching the changing quality of daylight. Sunset Dimming gradually transitions from functional brightness to a soft, candlelight-like glow, creating a relaxing, intimate ambience perfect for winding down at the end of the day,” Gerard explains.
Other colour-based features include customisable RGBW colour displays for creative lighting effects in entertainment areas, art installations, or retail spaces, with seamless integration into Switch Lighting’s intelligent control solutions. Using the SLiC Push Buttons and Rotary Controllers, you can easily adjust colour, brightness, and effects to suit the atmosphere — giving you precise, intuitive control at your fingertips.

“Ribbon Lighting complements our architectural luminaires by adding a layer of softness and continuity that’s essential to a well-balanced lighting design. It bridges the gap between task, accent, and ambient light. When used alongside directional luminaires like ZELA Downlights and our Art Spot, or to complement our landscape lighting range, it adds depth and atmosphere,” Gerard says.

Creative lighting at your fingertips
Due to its versatility and elevated design, Ribbon Lighting is now often recommended as part of Switch Lighting’s in-house lighting design service.
“Our Lighting Designers work collaboratively with clients, architects, and electricians to create holistic lighting plans tailored to the space, mood, and function of each project. From concept development and showroom consultations to on-site planning and final fixture placement, our team advises on how to best integrate Ribbon Lighting into architectural features and lighting layers for optimal effect.”
Ribbon Lighting offers endless possibilities for creativity in residential and commercial environments.
“Outlining the perimeter of a dropped ceiling with Ribbon Lighting can create an ethereal, floating illusion — especially effective with tunable white settings for subtle light transitions throughout the day,” Gerard explains.
“You can also hide Ribbon Lighting strips inside architectural elements like built-in shelving, custom headboards, or display alcoves to create gorgeous, illuminated features. For outdoor spaces, use IP67-rated Ribbon or Neon Ribbon to trace architectural outlines of pergolas, water features, or garden walls for bold nighttime silhouettes.”
More than just a functional lighting product, Ribbon Lighting is a creative, architectural tool designed to enrich both interior and exterior spaces.
“Whether you're aiming to highlight features, enhance ambience, or create bold lighting gestures, Switch Lighting’s Ribbon Lighting range offers the flexibility, performance, and design integration to do it beautifully,” Gerard says.
“We go above and beyond for our clients, with technical guidance and expert advice available from our lighting consultants across the country, and design support from our lighting design team who are on hand to help bring your vision to life with light.”
