With resident amenity in mind, the design is oriented on the sloping site to capture natural sunlight and views of Lake Macquarie.

Situated in Carey Bay, the Anglican Care Aged Care Development is a proposed 126 bed Residential Aged Care Facility that will replace an existing nursing home that no longer meets current standards or operational requirements.

  • Location:Carey Bay, NSW
  • Year:2019

The design process explored multiple planning options which were assessed against key design principles to maximise Operational Efficiency, Response to Site and Amenity.

Situated on a sloping site overlooking Lake Macquarie, the new home will better respond to the natural assets of the site and provide a higher level of amenity to the existing and future residents. Drawing upon the site’s natural features, the resident wings of the development splay out from the central service and social core to capture filtered views amongst the canopies of native Angophora trees and enclose secure landscaped courtyards within.

Integral to the design approach is consideration of evolving levels of care and compliance with current regulations. CKDS engagement includes full architectural, interior and landscape design services with development approval 2020.
