Architecture AND have completed a significant restoration and addition to a heritage-listed federation house in inner-city Haberfield. Informed closely by the unique design guidelines for the context, the design response sought to reinterpret the materiality and expression of the existing dwelling in the new portion, providing a wholistic quality.
A hip roof form with verandah extension provided a distinctly contemporary identity, derived from historical development patterns.
A subtle palette of red masonry, pigmented concrete floors, spotted gum joinery and white internal brick walls and v-groove ceilings provided a calm expression, emphasising the presence of the garden.
Architecture that's second to nature AND design thinking to make cities work. Working across a breadth of natural and urban settings, our projects are materially rich and geometrically precise, with a deep sense of care underpinning all that we do.
