John and Rachelle Creighton’s home at Red Beach is a striking blend of resort-style luxury and year-round functionality. With the serene coastal landscape as the backdrop, their vision was to create a retreat that maximized the site’s natural beauty while serving as a practical, long-lasting family home. The result is a masterpiece that showcases thoughtful design, high-quality materials, and meticulous craftsmanship.

The outdoor areas, a key element of the design, were planned to ensure year-round usability. “We wanted an outdoor space that would work in any weather,” says John Creighton, the builder and homeowner. This meant creating sheltered zones that allow the family to enjoy the stunning beach views regardless of the season, while also maintaining a sense of privacy and comfort.

Expansive glass doors frame the breathtaking ocean views, while durable materials ensure the house stands up to the harsh coastal conditions. The design embraces natural elements, with stone walls and aluminium joinery chosen for their low maintenance and longevity. “We needed materials that could handle the environment without a lot of upkeep,” John explains.

A standout feature of the home is the stonework, which became a central design element after Rachelle spotted the perfect stone on a house in Auckland. The stone’s texture and tone were integrated into both the exterior and interior, creating a cohesive look that ties the house to its natural surroundings. This attention to detail is reflected throughout the property, from the landscaping to the interior finishes, where every decision was made to enhance both the aesthetics and the livability of the home.

Inside, the home is designed to feel open and inviting, with an easy flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The living areas are positioned to make the most of the views, while the use of natural light ensures the home feels bright and airy. Whether it’s the pool area for summer gatherings or the firepit for cooler evenings.

The property also accommodates future needs, with space for family members to live comfortably over time. “It’s a house we’ll be living in for a long time,” John says. Designed with longevity in mind, this Red Beach property is more than a home—it’s a lasting legacy for the family, built to grow with them and stand the test of time.
