The Clements Hotel

Dalman Architects was asked to refurbish and extend the old Masonic Hotel in Cambridge, creating a new 5 star boutique hotel, The Clements. The original building was largely stripped out. On the ground floor we designed a new entrance lobby at the foot of the original stairs which were retained and refurbished, a lounge, function room and board room, and a restaurant and bar that extends into a new orangery styled space. At the rear we designed an extension to provide a lift. The first floor features guest rooms in a new layout, and we also designed a new top floor of guest rooms by lifting the original roof slightly and utilising the space within. The original basement was extended and converted into an underground bar – 1866 Speakeasy Bar.
