Description: Stryde Projects was a part of the team to bring educational benefit to the area of Wellsford. Firstly, the project team were required to move the existing emergency helipad to it's new location in order to begin excavating the foundations for the new library building.
The new building consisted of concrete block masonry, supporting pre-stressed concrete beams with 100m thick reinforced concrete topping slab. Precast concrete columns and wall panels supported structural steel portal framing. A major energy saving feature of the building is in the installation of photo-voltaic panels on the roof which harnesses the sun rays and feeds power into the building electrical switchboard via inverters to run the building mechanical and electrical systems. Any surplus power generated is then able to be fed directly into the supply network to offset power used from the network on overcast days.
