120 lineal metres of postless balustrade, 74 bespoke privacy screens, and custom pergolas, specified by Peddlethorp from the preliminary design stage of this Tauranga retirement village. Peddlethorp brought UNEX in early in the design process, specifying Finline Postless Balustrade for the decks and a ramp and Topline Postless Fin Balustrade for the retaining walls, all powder-coated in Dulux Duratec Ironsand. Twelve apartments received bespoke aluminium pergolas built from 150 x 50mm aluminium slats. Privacy was a major factor in the brief, so UNEX supplied 74 bespoke privacy screens in matching Ironsand, working directly with the structural engineer to keep the fixings discreet. UNEX also produced 74 custom aluminium covers to conceal balcony air conditioning units, finished to match the screening for a consistent look across the village. A 20-metre pergola at the entry, with Ironsand posts and 200 x 50mm timber-look American Oak slats, marks the arrival point. The completed balustrade and screening package left the clients and the Peddlethorp team pleased with the result, and the project has since won a Merit award in the Multi-Unit Residential category at the 2022 Property Council Awards.
