Custom Topline Balustrade Solution for a High-Traffic Public Space
A custom-engineered aluminium balustrade system designed to balance safety, durability, and architectural intent within Waikato Museum’s refurbished public spaces.
As part of the Waikato Museum refurbishment, the project required a robust balustrade solution that could perform in a high-traffic environment while maintaining the clean, contemporary aesthetic of the building.
UNEX Systems worked alongside Acclaim Aluminium to deliver a site-specific variation of the UNEX Topline balustrade system, incorporating heavy-duty vertical fins in the CTH2 profile. The refined aluminium design provides visual transparency while delivering the strength required for public areas subject to increased loading demands.
Installed throughout elevated areas and stair access points, the custom balustrade solution was engineered to meet New Zealand Building Code requirements while integrating seamlessly with the museum’s existing architectural features.
Fabricated and installed by UNEX Authorised Fabricator Acclaim Aluminium, the completed installation demonstrates the flexibility of engineered aluminium systems to respond to unique architectural requirements while providing a durable, low-maintenance solution for public environments.
