A sophisticated transformation of a 1990s luxury home into a resort-style sanctuary, featuring six bedrooms, four bathrooms, and modern amenities, while preserving original charm and enhancing functionality.

What transpires when the nostalgic essence of a luxury 1990’s home blends with a bold contemporary vision, steadfast determination, and a team of skilled craftsmen? This exquisite transformation ‘Millstream’ on Carlton Mill Road.

Where some perceived a daunting and time-consuming venture, the owners saw an opportunity to create a retreat in the city. With two children in tow and life continuing within its walls, a renovation of remarkable ambition and heart was undertaken.

A dream realised, and Matt Harrison Construction were called in to bring it to life. Supported by W-2 engineers and architects, the builders were charged with preserving the home’s original charm (with all 895-sqm meticulously catered for) while seamlessly infusing it with both the feeling and aesthetics of resort-style living!

The result? A showpiece of style, warmth, and functionality. Boasting over six bedrooms, four bathrooms, and three expansive living areas, the home exudes generosity and personal charm.

Modern highlights include a stunning outdoor terrace complete with a fireplace, an inviting pool house, spa bath, and sauna. Each space designed for connection, celebration, and vacation.
Inside, carefully curated details such as arched timber windows, brass accents, and intricate mosaics pay homage to the heritage, while introducing elegance and texture.
A soft neutral palette, abundant natural light, and lush interior gardens create an atmosphere of calm and cohesion.

This was never just about a renovation - it was about realising a lifestyle; and that starts with a feeling. The owners' unwavering involvement, passion, and clarity of purpose are evident in every corner. Their collaboration with the building team turned a once-dated structure into a sophisticated, soulful sanctuary.

This renovation is more than a transformation - it’s a testament to the power of vision, the art of design, and the enduring reward of creating something truly meaningful.

Professional Reviews

1 / 3

“Matt Harrison Construction undertook the building contract to restore our extensively earthquake damaged 19th century home and has done a thorough and professional job. I found him to be very helpful and always happy to explain ‘in layman’s terms’ some of the technical processes that were involved. We worked through many issues that inevitably arose over the 18 month period of repair. It seemed as though he worked ‘over and above’ to achieve the best result.”
