What started as an alteration to replace the roof of an existing house evolved into a new house.
The owners were unhappy with the poor feng shui of their existing home where an exposed beam ran down the middle of the house, including through the master bedroom. Sang Architects presented the client with a design for a new roof and a design for a new house. The clients were overjoyed with the new design which offered everything they wanted without compromise. A new house was born.
This spacious and modern new family home was designed on a 2000m² double section, consisting of a three car garage with extensive forecourt area for visitor parking. There is a large studio area for the musicians and artists of the family. The entrance is connected to the main building by a glass gallery which is built over a goldfish pond with a glass floor. The living, kitchen, theatre and guest bedroom are on the ground floor that opens out to a very large tiled outdoor terrace, infinity pool and summer house. The pool and hot water are on an energy saving passive heating system.
The upper level of this residence has five more bedrooms and en suites opening out onto a covered balcony with extensive views to the estuary. The roof line matched the balcony that follows the line of the rooms.
