Looking for a modern looking, weather proof cladding?
We recently had the opportunity to work on a house in Whitford, Auckland that featured in a recent episode of Grand Designs NZ. The owners decided to use a Japanese method to protect and colour their cladding.
This process involves charring the wood and once it’s cooled, cleaning it with a brush and finishing it with a natural oil. The charred surface is then decay, weather, UV, insect and fire resistant for a long period of time.
The end result of this technique is a beautiful and striking finish and is becoming increasingly popular in modern architectural applications.
