Designed around a series of curated kitchen environments, the showroom reflects Smeg’s globally recognised aesthetic while maintaining a warm and approachable atmosphere. Central to achieving this cohesion was ForestOne's EGGER Light Vicenza Oak, specified extensively throughout the project as the foundational material palette.
For Smeg’s Sydney Experience Centre, X+O Design set out to create more than a showroom.
Located within the heritage Woolstores precinct, the space was designed as an immersive brand environment where product, hospitality and residential inspiration come together. Rather than a traditional appliance display, the showroom invites customers to move through a series of curated kitchen settings, each designed to reflect the personality of Smeg’s product collections.
At the centre of this experience is a refined and cohesive material palette, with ForestOne’s EGGER Light Vicenza Oak specified as a key surface throughout the space.A Unifying Material Language
Specified across the entry experience, walkways, demonstration kitchen, Portofino display, design studio and La Pavoni displays, EGGER Light Vicenza Oak helped create a consistent foundation across the showroom’s multiple zones.
For Rebecca Vulic of X+O Design, the decor played an important role in connecting each environment while allowing Smeg’s appliances to remain the focus.
“Light Vicenza Oak tied all of the unique aesthetics together and blended well with various colours and textures, creating the perfect canvas for the experience centre. The textural imprint creates the impression of real timber, with the sustainability benefits and ultimate durability.”
The warm, natural tone of Light Vicenza Oak complements the showroom’s broader palette of travertine, stainless steel and concrete, bringing softness and texture to a highly functional commercial environment.Confidence in Specification
For a project with multiple touchpoints, high customer interaction and a premium brand expectation, consistency and reliability were essential.
ForestOne’s EGGER Decorative Collection supported the design team with a surface solution that could perform across varied applications while maintaining a refined, cohesive finish.
“Consistency and reliability are fundamental, particularly in projects with multiple touchpoints and high client expectations. ForestOne’s range allowed us to specify with confidence, knowing the materials would perform consistently across different applications and maintain their quality over time.” Rebecca explains.
The availability of large sheet sizes also helped minimise visible joins across key joinery elements, supporting the clean architectural language of the space.Designed for Experience, Built for Longevity
Installed by Trouble Free Interiors, the completed showroom demonstrates how thoughtful decorative surface specification can support both design intent and long-term performance.
For ForestOne, the project reflects the value of trusted supply partnerships in commercial interiors, where material selection must balance aesthetic impact, durability, consistency and sustainability.
In the Smeg Sydney Experience Centre, EGGER Light Vicenza Oak provides more than a backdrop. It creates the warm, tactile foundation that helps bring the brand experience together.
