A Collaborative Journey

“At Paton Kitchens, we take a truly bespoke approach to kitchen design, recognising that each space is unique and must reflect the individuality of its owner,” explains the team. For the Shaw Residence, in particular, the designers dived deep into the homeowner’s lifestyles, encouraging in-depth conversations to achieve a deep understanding of how the space will be used. "Our goal is to create kitchens that reflect individuality while maximising functionality," says the Design Team. From this understanding, mood boards are then curated, conceptual layouts are drafted and design options are explored, keeping a strong focus on enhanced usability for the space. “Our goal is to create spaces that are as practical as they are visually stunning, with every detail thoughtfully considered.”

Materials and Finishes

The Shaw Residence’s kitchen is crafted with an eye for detail, and Paton Kitchens' unwavering commitment to quality materials is only reflected through the choices for this particular space. “For over 25 years, we’ve exclusively chosen Blum hardware for all our cabinetry, renowned for its durability, smooth functionality and quiet performance. The kitchen's cabinetry features Dezignatek Thermoform Profile Doors with thin frames that exude elegance. The chosen finishing details were the Curved Beam Handles, chosen to enhance the space’s already organic design and echo the home’s coastal surroundings. 

“A defining feature of this kitchen is its use of curves, which are both functional and aesthetic,”  explains the Paton Kitchens Team. “The curved island, a statement piece, becomes the heart of the kitchen, offering ample space for both cooking and socializing. This design element, paired with a matching curved pillar, creates a seamless flow between the kitchen and the living areas, reflecting the fluidity of the ocean just beyond the doorstep.”

Sustainability also played a pivotal role in the design. “Cosentino led the way through its commitment to eco-conscious materials, making the selection of Silestone Ethereal Glow for the benchtop simple,” says the Team. “This innovative engineered stone blends high-quality minerals and recycled materials and is recognised for its reduced silica content, setting a new standard in both safety and sustainability, pioneering the reduction of silica levels well before industry regulations required it.”
