Located only a 100m walk from Auckland International Airport, the Pullman Hotel is the only premium five-star hotel in the airport’s vicinity.
Spread across nine floors with 311 guest rooms, an eatery, a restaurant, a bar and a gym, the hotel has been designed to offer guests a premium stay – whether they are starting an international adventure or arriving home to New Zealand.
Found in many five-star hotels across the globe, Technogym’s premium gym equipment is well-suited to high-end residential and commercial spaces.
At the Pullman where visitors may need to boost their energy ahead of a long-haul flight or stretch out after a long day of travel, it was important for the gym to meet different training zones including cardio, strength, stretch, recovery and functional training.
“As soon as you walk in, you see the functional rig which is our OMNIA8, then there is our Excite Live range for the cardio. For strength equipment, there is a dual adjustable pulley cable machine and pure strength half rack for strength training,” says Technogym’s Alex Hunt.

The OMNIA8 Training Space
Designed to enable varied group activities for eight users and more at one time in a well-organised space, the OMNIA is a versatile functional training concept by Technogym that provides the opportunity to create an engaging, functional exercise space.
The OMNIA8 is ideal for high-intensity interval training with the Omnia-pivot allowing you to attach various equipment including the Pendulum, the Dual Lift system, closed loop elastics and Technogym’s Push-n-Pull bag.
With something for users of all levels and abilities, the OMNIA can be used with or without supervision, ideal for spaces such as hotels.
The Excite Live Run Treadmill
Boasting built-in Technogym coach and routines, the Excite Live Run Treadmill makes running enjoyable.
Based on your goals, a virtual trainer is on hand to guide you through a one-on-one session, offering encouragement and suggesting the level of intensity which can be easily adjusted on the touchscreen.
Group Cycle Connect Exercise Bike
Also on offer for cardiovascular fitness at the Pullman Hotel is Technogym’s Group Cycle Connect Spin Bike.
A compact design that can fit easily into any space, the bike is self-powered and the universal fit handlebar can be adjusted to four different positions – offering the ideal ergonomic solution for every type of ride.
The Skillrow Rowing Machine
Improve cardiovascular and total body power with Technogym’s most advanced indoor rower ever. Developed with athletes, the Skillrow improves both your cardio and power with diverse total body workouts available on the app.
Although you will be working out on land, the machine creates a realistic rowing feel thanks to Aquafeel, which mimics the natural curve of a stroke in the water. The technology also allows you to load the rowing stroke gradually and fluidly along the entire arc of movement without kickbacks on the lower back, avoiding potential injuries.

Designing a hotel gym
For those looking to create a gym offering such as this, it’s important to understand who will be using the space and equipment so that it makes it as easy as possible for them, and as comfortable as if they were working out at home or in their local gym.
“Especially being an airport gym, the client wanted to make this area super easy to use. By including Excite Live equipment, everything is guided in training sessions, and if you use the Technogym app, you can use that as well. It just makes it super easy for people,” says Hunt.
“We’ve worked on many hotel gyms because clients want quality. For many of their guests, they want familiarity and equipment they’ve used before at other high-level accommodation.”
With an understanding on who will be using the space, the gym has been designed to cater to their needs.
In-room fitness and recovery
As well as the gym, the Pullman Hotel also provides in-room equipment for those who book the package at reservation. Including items such as resistance bands, dumbbells, a yoga mat and a recovery foam roller, it makes it easy for people to be able to exercise in their room.
“Especially for people who have just arrived after a long flight, it means they can do a bit of recovery as well,” says Hunt. “Internationally this is relatively popular now, but the Pullman is the first in New Zealand to offer it in this way.”
