Green in Interior Design is a colour we return to often, not because it demands attention but because it brings a sense of balance and a feeling of nature. In today's interiors, it has quietly become one of the most enduring and versatile colour choices and a popular tone across our rug and furniture collections. From calm sage to rich olive and muted eucalyptus, green offers depth, warmth and a grounding energy that reflects the way we want to live - more intentionally, more slowly and more connected to our surroundings.

Why Green Works So Well in Interior Design

Green holds a unique position in interior design. It’s the colour of renewal and rest, a hue deeply associated with nature, calmness and growth. Whether you're designing a minimalist space or something more layered and expressive, green brings an effortless sense of harmony.

Unlike trend-driven shades, green isn’t fleeting. It feels anchored and is timeless by nature. The hue evolves throughout the day with the changing natural light in a room and adapts easily across seasons, making it a natural choice for interiors that are both beautiful and enduring.

Creating Calm Interiors with Green: A Natural Connection

At Tallira, we lean into green not as a statement but as a colour that creates calm and a sense of nature. It’s present across both our rug and furniture collections, from the Evie Sofa in textured olive boucle to the sculptural forms of Muundo’s handcrafted tables, and of course in our handwoven wool rug collections.

We choose green because it complements the materials we love: timber, linen, brushed metals and stone. These elements work together to create spaces that feel tactile and considered, spaces that feel like a retreat.

There’s a quiet confidence to green interiors. When used thoughtfully, green softens the geometry of a room. A low, sculptural sofa in olive becomes instantly inviting. A handknotted rug in washed forest tones adds depth to minimal spaces. Even a single piece, a vessel, a throw, a cushion, can subtly shift the tone of a room.

Best Green Colour Combinations for Modern Interiors

One of the reasons green is so versatile in Interior Design is its ability to pair effortlessly with natural tones and organic materials.

Sage green works beautifully alongside creams, oatmeals and light timber for a soft, tonal palette.
Olive green adds moody depth when set with charcoal, walnut or dark stone.
Eucalyptus shades feel airy and fresh when paired with crisp whites and natural linen.

We also love layering different greens within a single space, allowing subtle contrast in tone and texture to create visual interest without overwhelming the eye.

Whether your aesthetic is clean and contemporary, softly rustic or grounded in organic modernism, green fits in - and elevates.

Green in the Tallira Collection

The pieces we craft and curate at Tallira reflect our belief that interiors should feel both lived-in and elevated. Our olive green Evie Sofa, upholstered in a textured boucle, is an example - low-slung, sculptural and comfortable. It’s a piece that doesn’t dominate but quietly sets the tone for the entire room.

You’ll also find muted green tones throughout our rug collections, handwoven and rich in texture. These earthy greens layer effortlessly into modern Australian homes, softening the edges and grounding open spaces with warmth and depth.

From furniture to flooring, the green tones in our collection are designed to work together across materials, forms and palettes.

The Timeless Appeal of Green in Interior Design

What we love most about green is its timelessness. It doesn’t follow trends - it lives alongside them. It evolves, adapts and remains relevant long after the moment has passed. That’s why, for us, green is more than a colour choice. It’s part of a broader design philosophy; one rooted in restraint, longevity and ease.

In a world that often moves too fast, green reminds us to slow down. It reconnects us - to the outdoors, to quiet moments, to spaces that feel good to be in.
