Advantages

Applicable Substrates:
Any of our natural timber products can be custom treated with FR+ to achieve Group 1 Fire Rating. The applicable substrates include DesignerOSB, DesignerPly, Particleboard, DesignerVeneer, and MDF.

FYI
  • Once a panel is altered by perforating holes or slots that panel no longer has the same Group Fire Rating (or any rating at all unless tested)
  • Perforated panels can still achieve a Group 1 fire rating providing strict coating guidelines are adhered to. It must be coated both sides and inside the perforations with our FR+ intumescent coating system. For further details refer to our certificate of conformity complying with changes in the NCC 2019 (certificate number CM30071REV1).
  • The onus on providing ForestOne with the applicable Group fire rating required for any specific project or order falls on the ordering party. Please ensure that your specific Group rating is understood for your particular project when ordering.
  • FR+ must be used for internal applications only as it is not suitable for exterior or semi-exterior applications.
  • PFR+ is suitable for use as ceiling linings and wall linings in low traffic areas
  • For compliance to Group 1, timber based substrates are required to be a minimum of 8mm thick with minimum density of 338 kg/m3. FR+ panels using Fireshield intumescent Coating system also achieves an average specific extinction area of less than 250m2/kg. It achieves Group 1 via the Performance Requirement method subject to a number of criteria and conditions as per the Certificate of Conformity reissued on the 12th September 2019.Small cans of FR+ Fireshield treatment can be purchased for applying to cut edges on site if required.
