By Wilson & Hill Architects
In 2005 Wilson and Hill Architects were commissioned to design this family House on a site facing the Avon River in Fendalton. An important part of the clients brief was that the House has a high level of energy efficiency and be environmentally sustainable. The House was computer modelled during the design stage to ensure its energy efficiency.
The House is constructed with exposed Thermo mass concrete panels with an acid finish, concrete floors, baked Hinuera stone and cedar weatherboards. The roof fascia and soffits are ‘bronze’ composite panel.
The ground floor living rooms and guest bedroom open onto a north-facing courtyard containing a swimming pool and spa. The first floor contains bedrooms and Mezzanine Living area with the Master Bedroom suite being accessed via a ‘bridge’ over the double-height space.
Wilson & Hill Architects are committed to providing architecture of
a high calibre. We are driven by a consistent philosophical approach, not a predetermined style. We embrace modernist architecture, striving to produce clean, spacious and light designs.
