Combining contemporary architecture with a strong focus on year-round comfort and energy performance.
Greytown New Home
Designed for the Wairarapa’s demanding climate, this award-winning Greytown new home combines contemporary architecture with a strong focus on year-round comfort and energy performance.
Architecture Robinson Crimp was engaged for its expertise in passive design, with the owners seeking a home that would maintain a consistently comfortable indoor environment throughout Greytown’s seasonal extremes.
High levels of insulation, thermally efficient joinery, triple glazing and a heat exchange system contribute to the home's performance. Independent passive modelling also informed refinements to the design, including window sizing and external Roma blinds to help manage summer heat gain.
The finished home brings together considered architecture, high-performance construction and meticulous craftsmanship.
The project received four awards at the 2026 Wellington & Wairarapa Master Builders House of the Year Awards: Regional Category Winner, Regional Environmental & Sustainable Excellence, Regional PDL Smart Home Award and Regional Gold. It was subsequently selected for the national Top 100.
