The Approach

Kouzina is a New Zealand owned specialist premium appliance retailer with beautiful showrooms designed as inspirational spaces to showcase an innovative and extensive range of the latest products for residential and commercial interiors.

Our brief was to create a kitchen to display the range of exceptional Bora cooktops in their Christchurch showroom. The open, commercial space of the showroom and the need to create an eye-catching kitchen amongst other outstanding kitchen creations, called for a stand-out, stylish, minimalist kitchen and colour palette that would attract the customer as well as showcase our own craftsmanship. We intentionally wanted to integrate different textures into the kitchen.

We incorporated the flush mounted Bora Cooktops into an IMI concrete benchtop and into a 5mm, scratch and fingerprint resistant, stainless steel benchtop on the island, complementing each other nicely. The versatility of IMI concrete also features in the splashback and shelf. A beautiful walnut veneer was chosen for the wall oven cabinetry, finished with a solid walnut side using different thicknesses at random for special effect. The walnut veneer also blends with the Furniture Linoleum fronts of the island, enhanced with walnut edge tape. Contrasting Furniture Linoleum features on the drawers opposite for a smooth, modern look. Furniture Linoleum is not yet a well known kitchen material, but it’s a natural and durable surface material to provide the perfect finishing touch.
