Lloyd House is an honest update to a unique heritage home originally designed and lived in by architect Frank Cavalier in 1970. Dieppe Design is privileged to have been involved with bringing this home into the 21st Century.
Lloyd House was designed by architect Frank Cavalier for his family and their lifestyle in 1970. Fast forward 47 years, our clients purchased the home from the Cavalier family. Although loving its exterior architecture - they wanted to update the interiors, developing the space to reflect their lifestyle. The brief was to brighten the interiors and modernise the home without losing its original character. Our client selected parts of the interior to maintain and we designed a concept that touched on the simplicity of industrial styles to dull the warmth and character down.
To maintain budget and be sustainable where possible we refurbished the window & door frames, utilised original feature doors as artwork, kept the floor plan as is removing only a shower room and fixed areas of leakage rather than replacing.
With touches of paint to the original brick wall, window and door frames, additions of joinery, outdoor decking and landscaping plus renovations throughout, Lloyd House is now a light and airy home functioning for two adults, two children and their three dogs.
