Seddon Street Apartments

Seddon Street is a five-level apartment building with a total number of 25 units. Five of the units at the ground floor are designed as universal and the upperlevel units are “typical”. The façade is represented by two simple forms separated by a central circulation core curtain walling. Balcony forms, cladding selection, patterns and colours split the overall building bulk, evoke the cultural motifs and provides human scale with respect to adjacent low rise development. Building construction is precast concrete, designed for faster installation times and is decorated with texture, pattern and colour to break up the buildingbulk. Services are location on the roof to allow for the building form to be clean of unintended protrusions and bulky elements. MODE acted as lead consultant through all design phases and coordinated all design consultants as well as contractor input during an Early Contractor Involvement Documentation process. The project utilised solar panels for solar energy production which led to a shared benefit to the tenants and the building owner. There is incorporation of innovative structural thermal breaks in the design process led to higher thermal performance and energy efficiencies and the project was designed to Homestar 7. The project was completed in 2025.
