Tākaka House is defined by its distinctive gable forms, which give the building character and anchor it confidently within the Golden Bay landscape.
These gabled profiles are a key feature of the design, shaping the interior volumes, directing light into the living spaces, and establishing a simple, recognisable architectural language.
A natural timber palette reinforces this clarity. Vertical timber cladding, extensive timber joinery, and large cedar sliding doors create a strong connection to the outdoors, with a warm and tactile material expression throughout. Left in a natural finish, the timber is intended to weather gracefully, allowing the house to settle naturally into its surroundings over time.
