Some spaces require that you don't touch a thing. This was one of them.

The Alcott is a beautifully restored heritage venue. Intricate plasterwork ceilings, ornate detailing, warm pendant lighting. The kind of space where every design decision carries weight and anything that doesn't belong immediately shows. The acoustic challenge was real. A large, high-ceilinged hospitality environment with hard reflective surfaces and the noise levels to match. The solution had to perform without compromising a single detail of what makes this room special.

The answer was Autex Tundra Fins. Set into the ceiling plane in a rhythm that feels completely at home in the architecture. The fins sit flush and considered between the heritage plasterwork, adding depth and shadow to the ceiling rather than competing with it. From below, they read as part of the room, an intentional design detail rather than an acoustic fix.

The install required two days of mobile scaffold work, with set-out agreed on site to ensure every fin landed exactly right relative to the existing plasterwork. Precision was everything. A millimetre off and the whole ceiling reads wrong.

The result is a room that looks like it was always meant to sound this good.

“I really enjoyed working with Damon and the team on this project. Their technical advice and assistance with specifications bridged the gap between manufacturer and designer. Looking forward to more successful projects in the future.”
