West Coast Road Apartment
Situated along West Coast Road, this apartment development draws inspiration from Auckland’s traditional brick architecture while expressing a distinctly modern and restrained identity. The design harmonises durability, rhythm, and warmth, contributing a refined addition to the evolving suburban context.
Architectural Expression
The building’s form is composed of clean vertical proportions, balancing solidity and openness. The façade integrates deep balcony recesses and vertical fins, creating both shading and rhythm while adding privacy and visual depth.
Brick cladding grounds the building in a sense of permanence, while dark metal panels and slender window proportions bring a contemporary edge. The play between red brick, black metal, and light plaster establishes a timeless yet urban composition.
Material & Detailing
- Red brick façade references the character of older suburban homes and ensures long-term durability.
- Vertical aluminium fins and balcony balustrades introduce a modern rhythm of shadow and texture.
- Contrasting dark and light tones reinforce the vertical geometry and enhance façade articulation.
Design Intent
Each apartment is designed to maximise light, ventilation, and connection to greenery. Large openings and private balconies extend indoor living to the outdoors, creating bright and comfortable homes within a compact urban footprint.
