Design Tips for Styling your Outdoor Shower Space

Let Nature Lead

The most memorable outdoor shower spaces are the ones that work with the landscape, not against it. Embrace your surrounds - from native planting and coastal grasses to climbing vines, weathered stone or timber decking. These natural elements not only enhance the feeling of connection but also allow your shower to patina gracefully into its environment.

Pro Tip: Position your Sunshower so that it catches natural light (especially for a golden glow on our copper or brass models), and if privacy allows, orient it towards a view - even a glimpse of greenery can create a powerful sense of immersion.

Light it Beautifully

Don't restrict your showering  to daylight hours - showering under the stars is just as amazing and a soft, warm light can transform that simple rinse into a moonlit ritual. Consider installing:

• Discreet wall lights
• Low garden lighting
• Festoon lights overhead (if nearby structure allows)

Always use lighting to create mood, and highlight form, materials, and textures - never to overwhelm.

Choose a Finish That Complements Your Space

Whether you're working with raw copper, brushed brass, or our powder-coated matte white or black options, the finish of your shower can completely shift the mood of the space.

• Copper pairs beautifully with terracotta, natural stone, and timber for a warm, organic look.
• Brushed brass offers subtle luxury - striking against lush foliage or concrete surfaces.
• Matte white brings a clean, coastal feel - ideal for beach homes or poolside areas.
• Matte black creates bold contrast and modern edge in architectural or minimalist settings.

Pro Tip: Think of your Sunshower as an accent - the "jewellery" of your outdoor space.

Think About the Ground Beneath Your Feet

What you stand on can be just as important as what you shower under. Natural materials like stone pavers, reclaimed timber decking, pebble beds, or concrete pads can add both texture and practicality. Of course drainage is key - but so is comfort underfoot.

Pro Tip: Position a timber duckboard or raised platform beneath your shower for that spa-like feel, especially in high-moisture areas

Layer with Texture and Greenery

Outdoor showers look their best when surrounded by life. Think layered planting with varied heights, textures, and tones. Native grasses, tropicals, succulents, ferns, or climbing jasmine can soften harder edges while enhancing privacy and tranquillity.

Styling Note: Plan your planting to frame - not hide - the shower, letting its form remain central to the space.

Add Simple, Stylish Accessories

Design is often about the detailing so elevate the experience with small, thoughtful touches:

• Hooks or rails for towels and robes (brass or powder-coated to match)
• Timber or ceramic stool for bath products or a glass of wine
• Natural fibre baskets to store outdoor essentials
• Wall-mounted soap holders or shelves

Keep it simple and let natural materials shine - everything should serve the sense of calm and beauty.

Keep It Practical, Always

While styling is important, function is essential. Ensure your shower space has:

• Good drainage
• A nearby towel drop or dry zone
• Easy access to plumbing (especially for hot/cold models)
• Durable materials that can handle the elements

Choosing a high-quality shower like a Sunshower, crafted from copper, brass or with coastal-grade coatings, ensures beauty and longevity.

In Summary: Create a Space You Want to Step Into Every Day

Your outdoor shower should feel like an invitation - to slow down, rinse off, and connect with the elements. With thoughtful styling, quality materials, and a bit of imagination, it becomes more than functional - it becomes a stunning feature. One that enhances not just your space, but your lifestyle.
