Grey Lynn Townhouse

A tired and pokey three storey 1960’s terraced house in Grey Lynn has been modernised to create simpler and cleaner transitions and devised to create a greater sense of space for this creative couple. The design by Maria Hosking was within a strict budget and included new exterior joinery to the northern concrete and stone courtyard and from the midfloor Juliet balcony to enhance the light, air movement and connection to nature. New Oak flooring and tonal sisal carpet on the upper and mid floors are a subtle counterpart to the pink painted concrete on the lower floor. The rich American walnut kitchen and built-in cabinetry has been paired with grey slate in the kitchen and bathroom, the natural textures and materials a fitting backdrop to the couples stunning art collection.
