With this in mind, the process of designing your very own bathroom should be a reflection of the harmony it’ll encompass, which is why finding the perfect bathroom interior specialist is key.
Starting out as a humble out-of-garage business, ABI Interiors was a passion project curated from years of researching materials, building relationships and curating a company that encompasses true quality materials for your home’s bathroom.
We spoke with the team of ABI Interiors, discussing bathroom design tips for 2024 and how to prioritise a timeless aesthetic in a world of trends.
Before diving into the design process, seeking advice and inspiration from an industry expert is a great way to narrow down what you want to achieve out of your bathroom’s space.
“Bathrooms play a crucial role in every home, not only for their practical function but also for the profound impact their aesthetics have on our overall experience,” says the ABI Interiors team.
“The ultimate goal in every design is to strike a balance between beauty and functionality. Your space needs to be thoughtfully laid out to prioritise functionality and align with the rhythms of your daily life. At the same time, it also needs to cohesively reflect your chosen design style, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.”
Although trends are exciting and quite commonly all about aesthetics, identifying pieces that will come together to create an interiorscape that reflects you is essential. This ensures you can enjoy your space for years to come.
“While following trends can be enjoyable, overcommitting your entire space to one or multiple can quickly make a space feel outdated. The best way to avoid this is by choosing a significant portion of your space to retain some timeless design. For instance, if you are implementing colourful tiles and wallpaper into the same bathroom space, opting for a more neutral, timeless tapware finish, such as chrome, will provide a more balanced, less overwhelming space.”
Gravitating towards classic designs that hark versatility is a surefire way to achieve a space that harks timelessness.
“When we think of timeless bathrooms, we think of chrome tapware. Its classic and versatile aesthetic can be easily integrated with many colours, and it's perfect for both contemporary and traditional bathroom designs."
“You should also opt for a wall-mounted vanity in a neutral colour with a simple configuration. Our Addison or Archer Vanities are available in pure oak, shaker matte white, white ash oak, or pure white finishes for a pleasingly seamless appearance that will reinforce that timeless appeal.”
Opting for neutral colour schemes will form the foundation for a classic design and pair perfectly with materials that hark simplistic. Neutral hues also work to create a sense of spaciousness and tranquility, perfect for your self-care space.
“Lately, we've been loving rich, earthy tones such as beige, warm brown, and muted terracotta to create a cosy and grounded feel in the bathroom. These shades pair perfectly with organic materials like timber and stone and finishes like our brushed copper.”
But simple doesn’t mean monotonous; if you’re seeking a touch of avant-garde, neutral colours also allow room for accents through different tiles, accessories, etc.
“We also love the idea of introducing a bold, statement tile in the bathroom, such as terrazzo or a forest green tile — offset beautifully by the warm radiance of brushed brass tapware.
Curating the perfect bathroom is not only achieved through interior, but through space optimisation. Functionality and organisation ensures a timeless bathroom design that will stand the test of time. Incorporating built-in storage, floating shelves or vanity drawers will keep the clutter at bay and enhance the size of the room.
“Being smart with your bathroom accessories is a great way to optimise your space. One of our favourite ways is with our Vanity Drawer Organisers — dividing all your bathroom essentials into ordered compartments that can be easily accessed.”
“Also, other resourceful fixtures that can store bulky items should be considered. Our single, double or triple Soap Bottle Holder tidies your soap bottles, sanitisers, shampoos, conditioners, and moisturisers — freeing up more valuable bench space. Similarly, our stainless steel Maya Shower Caddies will ensure these hefty items are within reach in the shower.”
