Tapware is an important (and often overlooked) feature in kitchen and bathroom designs. These fixtures are crucial in utility spaces and should look and function at their best. In a recent interview, ArchiPro talked to industry-leading supplier Aquaperla about the significance of quality tapware in the home's design, health, safety and functionality.

Durability

According to Ann Wang, Sales Manager at Aquaperla, one of the primary reasons to invest in quality tapware is durability. Choosing tapware from durable and corrosion-resistant materials such as solid brass or stainless steel can significantly extend its lifespan.

Aquaperla is a renowned supplier of high-quality bathroom, kitchen and laundry products. Established in 2012, the Australian-based company’s products are inspired by global trends and innovations. From the elegant lines of the Pentro range, the industrial style of Esperia gunmetal grey collection to stunning granite sinks and matte black collections. Thanks to their impressive product range, Aquaperla has been instrumental in transforming the home renovation and design industry by providing retailers with fixtures that are both beautiful and functional.

Wang emphasises that Aquaperla's commitment to manufacturing products to the highest Australian standards allows them to offer warranty terms that exceed basic requirements.

"Saving on maintenance and replacement costs is a substantial benefit of investing in high-quality tapware," Wang says. “By opting for durable materials and adhering to stringent manufacturing standards, consumers can enjoy fixtures that withstand the test of time, reducing the need for frequent replacements or repairs.”

Wang further emphasises the significance of the cartridge in tapware, considering it the most vital component. Quality tapware brands, such as Aquaperla, subject their cartridges to rigorous testing to ensure functionality over an extended period. “This commitment to quality is reflected in Aquaperla’s 15-year warranty, assuring our product's reliability and durability,” says Wang.

Beyond the initial purchase, the after-sales service provided by a tapware supplier can impact the user experience. “Aquaperla offers more comprehensive after-sales services, including longer warranty periods and convenient repair services. This commitment provides users with additional assurance and confidence in their investment,” says Wang.

Health and safety

Another critical aspect of quality tapware is its impact on health and safety. Wang highlights the importance of high-quality tapware in ensuring the cleanliness of water and preventing the infiltration of harmful substances into drinking water.

“For peace of mind, all Aquaperla products come with Watermark and WELS certification, assuring consumers of compliance with stringent quality and safety standards,” says Wang.

What makes tapware high quality?

To understand what makes tapware of high quality, Wang further highlights several key factors:

Materials: High-quality tapware is often crafted from durable and corrosion-resistant materials such as solid brass or stainless steel.
Features: Physical vapour deposition (PVD) technology produces a metal vapour applied to tapware finishes, enhancing aesthetics and providing additional protection against wear and corrosion.
Quality parts: A ceramic disc cartridge is a crucial component for functionality and durability.
Certifications and compliance: Look for products with Watermark and WELS certification, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
Warranty and after-sales service: The length and terms of the warranty and the after-sales services offered can indicate the product's quality.

Trending finishes

When it comes to high-end finishes, Wang mentions that brushed brass, brushed gunmetal, and brushed nickel are currently popular finishes. “These finishes not only add a touch of luxury but also contribute to the overall aesthetics of the utility space,” says Wang.

According to Wang, clients currently prefer simple, comfortable, and natural designs that integrate products and living spaces with nature. “This trend may be a response to the increased stress in their lives, as we are finding clients seeking designs that provide a sense of relaxation and ease,” says Wang.

Investing in quality tapware is fundamental for the home's long-term durability, health and safety. By understanding the critical components of high-quality tapware and staying informed about current trends, designers and consumers can make informed decisions that not only enhance the functionality of their projects but also contribute to a more enjoyable and comfortable living experience.
