What Makes Pure Cast Iron Fireplaces Superior?

Pure cast iron fireplaces, like those made by Seguin, are crafted from 100% virgin material. This ensures a consistent, high-quality structure free from impurities.

Thicker Build: Every Seguin fireplace is built with 8–12mm thick pure cast iron walls. Many recycled cast iron models on the market have thinner walls, meaning less durability and heat retention.
Stronger Casting: Seguin uses one-off sand moulds for each casting. This results in precise, flawless parts every time — something that recycled cast iron, filled with air pockets and inconsistencies, cannot guarantee.
Better Heat Retention: Pure cast iron absorbs and radiates heat more effectively, delivering lasting warmth throughout your space.

The Problems with Recycled Cast Iron Fireplaces

Recycled cast iron may sound eco-friendly, but it often comes with hidden risks when used in fireplaces.

Higher Risk of Cracking: Impurities and inconsistencies in recycled cast iron can cause structural weaknesses, leading to cracks and reduced lifespan.
Lower Heat Efficiency: Poorer quality material means less effective heat retention, resulting in higher running costs and a less comfortable home.
Inconsistent Quality: With mixed metal content, recycled cast iron fireplaces are harder to control for consistent strength and durability.
