Bringing fabrication and exhibition together under one roof, the Preston address operates simultaneously as a working factory and a public-facing showroom. The building offers architects, designers and clients a direct connection to the materiality, precision and process that underpins swd.'s work.
Throughout the space, steel is expressed through a considered range of window and door systems, including a steel-and-glass wine cellar alongside single and double doors, bi-fold, sliding and pivot doors. Each application demonstrates how bespoke steel joinery can define thresholds, frame views and articulate interior spaces with clarity and restraint.

Fabrication takes place directly beneath and alongside the showroom, reinforcing the company’s commitment to Australian manufacturing. The proximity of workshop and showroom allows visitors to trace the journey from design intent through to production, grounding the experience in process as much as outcome.
Reflecting on the opening, founder James Pridgeon notes that the Preston space represents a significant step. “Bringing our factory and showroom into a bigger space was always an ambition. It means we can better showcase the breadth of our products and our commitment to Australian manufacturing.
The Preston showroom is now open by appointment, with virtual consultations available for interstate clients.
