A new revolution in kitchen cabinetry

An award-winning revolutionary concept to provide new design options and functionality to furniture, similar to the kinematics of Hettich’s ComfortSpin, FurnSpin’s unique translatory rotational movement turns furniture inside out – a stylish 180-degree rotation to reveal the inside of the cabinetry. Another rotation and everything is hidden again with ease.

“FurnSpin is a versatile system, perfectly suited for various environments including kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and offices,” says De Ninis.

Yet to be released in Australia, the concept is the latest in furniture innovation, design and functionality – providing users with a space-saving option that impresses with its elegant ‘spin’.

Effortlessly changing from a closed piece of furniture to open shelving, the FurnSpin can change to look of a space instantly. Its technology also means that even the lightest of objects won’t fall over as the furniture rotates.

The new fitting can also be tailored, such as the ability to incorporate Hettich’s user-friendly functions such as soft closing or push-to-open functionality to create a handleless furniture design.

“Compatibility with Hettich’s Cadro aluminium frame system further demonstrates its ability to seamlessly integrate into different systems and spaces, recognised at Interzum 2023 where it won the highly-esteemed Best of the Best award.”

A versatile solution, the FurnSpin system rotates floor-to-ceiling furniture just as easily as a small glass display cabinet.

“Reflecting Hettich’s commitment to pioneering new solutions in the furniture hardware industry, FurnSpin could encompass advanced features such as enhanced flexibility, space-saving design or smart home integration, aligning with Hettich’s reputation for quality, innovation and user-centric design.”

When specifying storage systems, designers and architects should consider a variety of factors to ensure that the final product meets the needs of the users while also aligning with the overall design and aesthetic of the space.

“The primary consideration should always be the functionality and how and storage will be used. This includes considering the types of items to be stored, the amount of storage needed, ease of access and how the storage system can enhance the user’s lifestyle or work processes,” says De Ninis.

As well as considering the materials, finishes and colours that will harmonise with the room’s aesthetics, it’s important to also understand the range of innovative solutions available – from those that optimise space usage and ensure longevity and smooth operation.

“Especially in compact areas, utilise corner units, pull-out systems and vertical storage to make the most of available space,” says De Ninis. “When choosing high-quality materials and mechanisms, Hettich products are known for their durability and high performance, which is crucial for areas with frequent use.”

Not only does the FurnSpin perform on an aesthetic and practical level, but it has also been created with sustainability in mind.

“Demand for products with a better environmental life cycle assessment has been growing for years across all building and design sectors. As the effects of climate change become more apparent, customers are holding companies accountable for their sustainability efforts, forcing manufacturers to look closely at how each aspect of their operations impacts people, the environment and the wider global community,” says De Ninis.

“Sustainability is undoubtedly changing the way we look at products and how we design our spaces. Not only is this better for consumers, but it is also better for the future of our planet. This makes ‘green’ products, particularly the cabinetry fitting and hardware space, attractive not just from an ideological perspective but also a commercial one.”
