Creating impact in the great outdoors

A recent success story for Jagas was their involvement in Tiramarama Way in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter.

“Stage one of this job was awarded to us back in 2017. The interactive design, by landscape architect Megan Wraight and artist Lisa Reihana and which included ‘purposeful puddles’ designed to rise and fall with the tides, was not one we had come across before, but we knew it was something that we could achieve. It is a true highlight of the jobs that we have manufactured and we are proud of the workmanship and quality that went into it.

“Three years down the track, we have been asked to manufacture stage two of this job and we are delighted to be involved. It is a great feeling when you are recommended to complete such timeless projects and it’s part of the reason why we here at Jagas enjoy challenging jobs because once you see the end result, it really puts into perspective that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and if you get to work with equally passionate people.”

“Jagas are recognised paving experts, offering a range of custom made and imported solutions, including permeable, concrete and terrazzo pavers, together with ceramic porcelain tiles ideal for both commercial and residential outdoor use,” says James.

“As an environmentally conscious company, Jagas is proud to offer a paving solution that is truly permeable, meaning water is absorbed into the paver to later be released back into the atmosphere, and/or to be passed through to the substrate below rather than running off. Jagas HydroPavers™ are a sintered ceramic paver made from recycled porcelain tiles. They’re ideal for patios, pathways and public spaces and, because they’re strong enough to drive on, they can be used in driveways. Another benefit of their composition is that their surface can be up to 10°C cooler than concrete or stone paving surfaces, helping to mitigate the urban heat island effect”.

Custom manufactured in its Auckland factory, Jagas’ concrete and terrazzo paving solutions use only the best local and internationally sourced materials.

“Whatever the project, we can make pavers to any shape, size or finish to suit. Our terrazzo and premium concrete pavers are ideal for patios, footpaths and pool copings and will enhance any high-end residential or commercial project. Using high-quality Peter Fell oxides, we can also colour match our pavers to suit our customers' requirements. Finishes include honed, sandblasted, exposed aggregate, wood float, brushed, smooth, imprinted and acid etched.”

“Our reputation has been built off our ability to custom make a range of items such as stairs and planter boxes and that is still our focus, but we now have a range of stock options in stairs and planter boxes, designed to accommodate the needs of most customers,” says James.

“With stairs, we offer versions with or without risers. For options with a riser, we can supply up to eight metres wide with a 670mm tread depth. Stairs without a riser can be up to six metres with a tread depth of 600mm.

“As for our planter boxes, which can be finished in any style and colour to suit, the sizes that we supply are:

• 1800 x 600 x 600
• 1200 x 600 x 600
• 1000 x 600 x 600
• 500 x 500 x 500
• 400 round planters.

“Whatever your requirements, we challenge you to bring your ideas to the table and we will help you realise them. No job is too big.”
