From residential to commercial projects, Ōamaru stone is a versatile material that lends elegance and warmth to every home or space.

Whether used as walls, flooring, benchtops, furniture, fireplaces or sculpture, stone is an enduring material with classic appeal.

Parkside Quarries is a locally owned and operated Ōamaru natural limestone supplier in North Otago that specialises in creating bespoke design solutions from stone.

Below are three of their most beautiful projects that demonstrate the visual opulence that Ōamaru natural limestone brings to every project, whether residential or commercial, interior or exterior.

This North Otago home was built in 1880 from Ōamaru stone, and the owners engaged Parkside Quarries to restore both interior and exterior sites.

A seamless extension of the home has also been thoughtfully added and is undetectable from the original. An abundance of limestone appears throughout in sills, window and door jambs, caps and cornerstones, and the potager garden was extended using Ōamaru limestone with a sandblasted finish.

The stone used in this project guarantees this home will stand for at least another 150 years.

The Willowpark Homestead utilised limestone on the exterior, sills, window and door jambs, caps and corner stones.

Yu Mei is a leading New Zealand leather label, and when the brand had to fit out a new store in Newmarket they consulted with Parkside Quarries to create display solutions.

Sandblasted natural limestone plinths fabricated by Cutting Innovations form the foundation of the window displays and provide visual interest, while custom shelving units with Oamaru stone back panels in a sandblasted finish were produced by Parkside Quarries in collaboration with Knight Associates.

Parkside Quarries' limestone was a primary material for this commercial fit out in Newmarket.

The owners of this contemporary home designed by Red Architecture knew they wanted stone to complement the cedar accents of their house, but weren’t sure what type to use.

However, after seeing the creamy tones and experiencing the beautiful texture of Oamaru natural stone for themselves, they employed Parkside Quarries to supply the stone for their build. The result is a wonderfully warm and tactile home that feels both fresh and timeless.

Ōamaru stone was chosen for this project as a visual complement to the natural cedar cladding.
